Welcome
The Vision of the Teacher Quality Project is to enhance the economic prosperity and quality of life of Georgians, their communities, and the state by working collaboratively to build premier learning and teaching environments in Georgia's public schools. The Georgia Chamber of Commerce is partnering with local chambers to sponsor the Teacher Quality project (formerly known in the pilot phase as the BellSouth Quality Learning and Teaching Environment Initiative).
The Teacher Quality Project Vision Four Core Beliefs
- Education is critical for the economic prosperity and quality of life of individuals and the community.
- Teaching quality is the single most important factor influencing student achievement.
- Teaching and learning are most effective when both teachers and students are provided with environments which allow them to be successful.
- Schools and their communities at all levels—local, regional, and state—must work together in order to build and maintain premier learning and teaching environments.
Initiative Key Strategies
- Provide community-school leadership teams with district and school specific data on conditions of learning and teaching to serve as a baseline for continuous improvement action plans.
- Create and implement a process for community-school partnerships to improve conditions of learning and teaching.
- Recommend to business and political leaders policy changes to improve conditions of learning and teaching.
